I don’t tend to post grocery items on my blog and I certainly never thought I would post about a grocery store. However, when HEB contacted me I allowed HEB to be the exception to all the rules. For my dear friends who are HEB-deprived you must k
now that it is possible to go to a grocery store and be inspired to cook! When I first moved to Texas we were living in a tiny corporate apartment. One night at the peak of the “I can’t take it anymore’s” I looked at my husband and pleaded to le
t me just go walk the aisles at the grocery store. That grocery store being an HEB Plus. I got to know the tortilla lady…Yes, the lady who rolled homemade tortillas right there in the store and sold them HOT! I also got to know the “Cooker Man.” He was the one who was on stage always pointing customers to new products. This is how I discovered their Tomato Basil Soup. Yes, it’s in a jar and fabulous! OH, and the fresh chocolate-dipped strawberries on Valentine’s Day. Delish! Must I go on?
If you know how well HEB does it on a daily basis, then you can figure that holidays are no exception. They not only have sweets and treats to die for this Halloween, but an entire aisle of Halloween necessities. Candy, bags, decorations and costumes, a trick-or-treater’s delight! I am a fan. I am a big fan. In fact, when I moved to my new suburb, the HEB was not a “Plus,” so I wrote them a letter telling them why and where we needed an HEB Plus. They very kindly replied that they would let the “high-ups” know. If an HEB Plus came within 5 or even 10 miles of my house, I will think that I have died and gone to heaven. If you are responsible for the weekly chore of grocery
shopping in your house, you might as well enjoy it. Did I mention the samples?
With Halloween approaching this weekend, make a dash to HEB to get all your last minute needs in one spot. And to help you out, HEB is giving away a $20 Gift Card to a VERY lucky Penelope’s Pitstop reader. Say it isn’t so! Everyone needs a break on groceries these days, right? If you don’t have an HEB close to you, I am certain you have a friend in Texas that would love an HEB giftcard as a gift. Or, be like my family. When they come for a visit, they come with a grocery list specific to HEB. Leave a comment below and let me know if YOU will be using the card or sending it to a friend! Leave your comments by midnight on November 2. Winner will be announced on November 3rd. Good Luck and Happy Shopping!

Hi, I love HEB it is the only store I like to shop for my groceries. I would love a $20.oo giftcard
everytime we come to Houston , we look forward to shopping HEB . Homemade tortillas for Vin , fresh shrimp for BD and lots of choices for me. We would have no problem using the gift card.
My sis has an HEB just down the street – not sure about the PLUS part. I will pass the gift card on to her or wait and spend it when I come to meet my new nephew in March!
We love the brand new one on I-10 in Houston!!
Thanks for the chance to win an HEB giftcard. Just yesterday I agreed to host the family Thanksgiving dinner at my house, which could mean up to 20 people! The giftvard would really help with the groceries for the celebration of thanks.
I will give it to my hairdresser. Her husband suddenly passed away recently at 36 yrs old. I take her HEB gift cards every time I get my hair cut to help her and her son with groceries. BTW.. I love HEB and go almost everyday – we love the samples too and of course the sushi guy!
I’ll be using the card while visiting friends or I can even give them as a great holiday gift. They’d be thrilled!
My sister and husband live in Texas and this would be a nice little extra to stick in the Christmas card. I wish there was a HEB in Washington! I am so jealous.
MY FAVORITE STORE!! I would love to use that card! =)
I love HEB ad I will use it.
needless to say, Pen, I WILL USE THE CARD!!! As you know, I will be spending time in TX helping a new mama and food will be part of the equation. I’m sure D & J will appreciate HEB fruits and veggies, especially.
I have not grocery shopped at this store yet but have walked through it when i needed a quick item while hubby waited in the car. Wow! I walked out of there full and happy from all the samples everyone offered me. I would definitely spend that card quickly.
